So last night I finally got around to beating Donkey Kong Country Returns on the 3DS, and while I loved it and definitely consider it to be one of the better platformers I have played recently, that final boss really annoyed me.

It took me a bit and I did beat it, but I felt that it wasn't the actual fighting of the boss that was unfair, but how you have to do it. In every other boss fight in the game you always get Diddy Kong right before hand, giving you two extra hearts and more mobility. But for this last one you'll only have him for the first time. You'll only be able to get him for the barrel blast up to the fight, where you don't need him, and then a cut-scene will happen and you will be at the boss fight without having to go back and redo the barrel portion. But because of that if you don't beat Tiki Tong on the first try you'll be just down to fighting as Donkey Kong without Diddy.I was just wondering what everyone's opinion on this fight was. I beat it a couple months ago.

Not having Diddy definitely makes it harder. I ended up beating it with just Donkey Kong but it did take many tries. The rocket barrel trip up to the top wasn't difficult really but it was too annoying to want to go through it every time after I died.The actual boss fight was fairly difficult, some of the fire things he throws at you I found difficult to avoid a lot of the time.

If it weren't for the occational hearts you can pick up I might still be working on it.
