The challenges are very different from the Wii U edition, as you can unlock and master 100+ levels of platforming in new various challenges and courses, based around the classic platformers of Mario’s past, Super Mario Brothers, Super Mario 3, Super Mario World from the Super Nintendo days, and Super Mario U from the Wii U. Graphically, the game looks great and the control is very precise for the platforming action for die hard Nintendo gamers.
World 17-2 is the second level of World 17 of Super Mario Challenge from Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS. Course layout[edit]The course starts out with a Dry Bones on a ? Block and two Rotating Blocks. Nearby is a locked house-looking structure with a Key made of coins and an Arrow Sign pointing right. To the right are two Dry Bones, with a bigger one containing the Key found on Rotating Blocks. This is followed by many Hard Blocks making up a wall. Inside the house are two Dry Bones on ? Blocks, another Key Door, and a Warp Pipe to the subarea. In the subarea, a Big Yoshi Egg hatches and produces a Key. However, the player can't get back to the main area due to Hidden Blocks. Instead, the player must use the Key to open one of two available Key Doors as the other two are blocked by Rotating Blocks. Taking the left Key Door leads to an area with lots of Hard Blocks, a few coins, four Dry Bones including a big one with a key, two Grinders surrounded by Hard Blocks, a ? Block containing a Super Mushroom, and a POW Block. There is also a Pink Coin that is not reachable unless the player has either a Spiny Shell or Yoshi. Taking the right Key Door leads to an area where the player is chased by a Big Dry Bones past Grinders on tracks and a One-Way Wall followed by a Thwomp which can take out the Big Dry Bones. To the right is a Pipe that gives Fire Flowers. To leave, the player must take out Rotating Blocks with a spin and get past Big Chain Chomps shot from a Bill Blaster. Several coins and another Pink Coin are down here. The player can get to the door because of bridges. Back in the first area of the subarea, if the player has a Fire Flower, they can shoot fireballs at a nearby Bob-omb on a Muncher to release a Pipe that gives Fire Flowers. Reloading the room makes the Muncher and Bob-omb drop past a Bumper. Taking the far left Key Door leads to an area with a ground made of Spike Traps and a ? Block containing a Super Mushroom at the beginning. In order to get across, the player must ride a Big Cannon on a Big Dry Bones while avoiding Bloopers, a Blooper Nanny, and another Big Cannon. At the end is a Pipe that gives Yoshi Eggs that hatch into Yoshis. There is a Pink Coin surrounded by ground below the Pipe, which Yoshi can easily get with his tongue. Back in the first area of the subarea, if the player has Yoshi, they can use his tongue to get a P Switch and release a Pipe that gives Yoshi Eggs that hatch into Yoshis. Taking the far right Key Door takes the player to an area with two Spinies of different sizes and a Big Dry Bones. There is a ? Block containing a Super Mushroom at the beginning and a Bill Blaster that shoots lit Bob-ombs below the Big Dry Bones. To the right, Rotating Blocks that can be taken out as Super Mario are found. Here, the player can get the needed Spiny Shell from a Pipe. A 1-Up Mushroom is in a Hidden Block, but the player can't get the 1-Up Mushroom until the Hidden Block is destroyed. To the right of this are three Big Munchers on Spike Traps. If the player has a POW Block, Yoshi, and Spiny Shell, they can get the last Pink Coin. Back in the main area and using a Key to unlock the Key Door, the player is taken to an area identical to the first area at the beginning except it is flipped with the Giant Gate for the start area, there are no coins making a key, no Arrow Sign, Dry Bones are replaced with red Koopa Troopas, and a Key Door (to unlock, the player needs to have found all four Pink Coins) that leads to a bonus room with lots of coins and all items used except for the Super Mushroom due to Fire Flower being more powerful and P Switch due to only needing to open a place to get Yoshis and nothing for the puzzle. Above the bonus room is a secret area with six ? Blocks containing 1-Up Mushrooms and a Pipe that gives 1-Up Mushrooms. There are also two Buzzy Shells above the ? Blocks in this area, as well as Warp Doors that reset the room. The only way to get into the room is by using a Spiny Shell to break Hard Blocks and jump off Yoshi to reach the area. Challenges[edit]
